THE IDEA BEHIND OUR NAME / UTILITY NFTS

Less hype.
More proof.

An NFT can be useful long after the hype has left the room. That conviction is why we called this network uNFTChain.

uUTILITY+NFTNON-FUNGIBLE TOKEN
01 / A GOOD IDEA. A VERY LOUD ROOM.

The price tag became famous.
The useful part deserved better.

Crypto has produced an impressive amount of noise. Somewhere between the next moonshot and the next coin with a questionable name, a valuable idea became almost synonymous with expensive pictures: the NFT.

Art is a real use of the technology. It simply isn’t the whole story. An NFT can also represent a certificate, a license, a document reference or an application-specific record that people can inspect and verify.

That is the idea behind our name. We chose uNFTChain because we believe the interesting question is what a token lets someone do. The “u” puts utility at the centre of the conversation.

If the most useful thing about a token is its price chart, we think there’s room for improvement.
02 / SOMETHING EXISTS. SOMETHING CAN BE VERIFIED.

A visible reference.
A durable proof trail.

A file can be changed. A webpage can disappear. A private database asks you to trust its operator. A blockchain record offers a shared reference that other people can inspect independently.

For a document, an application can calculate its cryptographic fingerprint, record it on-chain and later compare a presented file with that recorded fingerprint. A match establishes that the file corresponds to the recorded data, which was committed by the time of the containing block.

The chain provides the verifiable record; the application gives it meaning. A certificate needs an identifiable issuer, a license needs defined rights, and a physical asset needs a reliable link to its digital reference. Recording a claim makes it traceable; evidence and context establish what the claim proves.

03 / UTILITY, IN EVERYDAY TERMS

More than a collectible.

01

Documents & timestamps

Record a fingerprint and later check whether a document matches the version committed on-chain.

02

Certificates & attestations

Give an issued certificate a reference that recipients can inspect and applications can verify.

03

Licenses & access

Represent a software license, membership or entitlement, with its meaning and access rules defined by the application.

04

Objects & records

Link a digital object or asset reference to a unique record and a history of relevant on-chain events.

These are examples of utility-oriented applications. Each service defines and implements its own verification rules and user experience.

04 / A PROTOCOL THAT LEAVES ROOM FOR UTILITY

Simple calls.
Useful records.

uNFTs are conceived to be created through simple RPC calls, with the aim of making creation approachable for anyone comfortable using a computer. Friendly interfaces can put those calls behind a form or a button.

UNFTChain supports up to 512 bytes of OP_RETURN payload for application-level protocol data. Those records are provably unspendable, avoiding additional spendable UTXOs created solely to preserve metadata.

The goal is practical: a manageable record on-chain, an application people can understand, and verification that does not depend on a single website. A developer should be able to build useful tools; a user should be able to use them without becoming a blockchain developer.

05 / THE FIRST DAPP

UNFTProof.
The first practical step.

UNFTProof is a project of UNFT Labs, SL and the first-ever dApp built on UNFTChain. It applies the network to timestamping and certification of digital files through verifiable blockchain proofs.

It appears in this ecosystem because it demonstrates the kind of utility the chain was created to support. UNFT Labs, SL and UNFTChain share founders but are independent projects.

OUR POSITION

An NFT should have
a job to do.

A proof to preserve. A certificate to verify. A license to use. A useful reference that remains visible beyond a single application.

That is why we are uNFTChain. The hype can take a break. There is useful work to do.
